The Philodendron Atabapoense Pink Variegata carries long, narrow leaves with a wine-red underside and pale to pink sectors on the upper surface. The colour difference between upper and lower side is characteristic of the species.
 
Climbing Philodendron only reach their adult leaf form with support. Species like Melanochrysum or Billietiae stay permanently small-leaved without a moss pole. Bright, indirect position, humidity from 55 percent. Water when the top third of the mix has dried.
 
The variegation is sectoral. Every new leaf develops its own pattern: sometimes a pronounced half-moon, sometimes a mostly green leaf, sometimes a very pale one. This variation is inherent to the mechanism and cannot be controlled through care. The node tells you more than the current leaf: shoots emerging from variegated tissue are more likely to carry the pattern forward.
 
This plant is rooted and established. After shipping it may take a few days to acclimatise — slight leaf stress, curled leaves or a growth pause in the first two weeks are normal. Heavily variegated leaves are more vulnerable in transit than green ones and may show occasional browning at the edges.
